I like to look back through the year to see what was popular and what wasn't. After all, just because I thought a dish rocked doesn't mean everyone wants to try it. For those of us with blogs, we study Google Analytics, the God of all that matters (or so it sometimes seems). And based on the numbers, I came up with these 10 top vegetarian posts of 2019.
BTW, this means they were posted in 2019. I note this because a lot of my top posts are ones that have been around for awhile. For example, my all-time top visited post is Tips for Cooking Chickpeas. It's full of tips for getting them perfectly cooked, and troubleshooting ideas for those stubborn chickpeas that refuse to soften. It ranks #3 on google search for "how to cook chickpeas", so all my research into getting perfect chickpeas paid off 🙂 !
Trends in 2019
Electric Pressure Cooker Recipes
2019 seemed to be the year of the electric pressure cooker (like the Instant Pot or Mealthy's Multipot), with recipes and new cookers popping up all over. And sure enough, when I started reviewing my top vegetarian posts list, I saw that 3 of them were Instant Pot recipes (in #1, #2 and #6).
Here's why they're so popular: last night I made Instant Pot mashed potatoes in under 15 minutes, and Multipot broccoli in something like 2 minutes just last night, and that's hard to beat. Oh, and my stepson and I made chocolate lava cakes in the Multipot after dinner. OMG, so easy, and so decadently delicious. (The recipe is on Mealthy's website.)
So, you'll be seeing more Instant Pot recipes in the coming year here.
And as a reminder, if you purchase anything from Mealthy, use my Affiliate Coupon Code THEWIMPYVEGETARIAN at checkout on the Mealthy site to get $10 off.
Meal Plans
The next thing I realized in reviewing the top 10 vegetarian posts list was that another 3 posts focused on Weekly Vegetarian Meal Plans (#3, #4 and #10). I just started these Meal Plans this year, and I'd already decided to expand on them in 2020, so I was happy to see that they ranked!
After all, we all need ideas and tips for creating vegetarian meal plans whether we live with non-vegetarians or not.
