FRUITS
Fruits are a bright spot in a sea of savory flavors.
They perk up our senses. And they entice with their colors and shapes. Apples and figs in autumn. Strawberries in spring. Sweet plums and cherries in summer. Burnished persimmons in winter.
Many of us start the day with fruit, maybe some berries or scooped out melon. And many dinners are tucked between bookends of fruit, as we relax around the table with family and friends. Figs with slices of sharp cheese for an appetizer. A juicy peach and raspberries for dessert. Or apples baked into a tart.
Please check out these dishes featuring fruit, and try a few. Some of my readers' and family favorites for a dessert include my Peach Cobbler in the Instant Pot, this Apple Galette with Cranberries and this Yogurt Cake with Pears.
But fruits are also great for main dishes too. This Apple Chutney is a great partner to soups or grilled cheese sandwiches. And citrus works well with cauliflower and olives in this Citrus Salad.
As a note, some foods that are thought of as a vegetable, are actually a fruit - such as tomatoes. But I've divided fruits and categories by how we commonly think of them. So I've placed tomatoes in the vegetable category.
